the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a
lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in
the house. Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

A word ~
During the week of July 12th,
2004, the United States Senate brought the FEDERAL
MARRIAGE AMMENDMENT up for a vote. While the motion was defeated this time, the
ammendment will be back. Why is this important to us as Bible believing Christians? The
answer is simple. Without a Constitutional Amendment, marriage as we know it, and as set
forth in Holy Scripture, will very quickly become obsolete. I could write volumes on the
civil and societal reasons for stopping this travesty but others more versed than I have
already done so. Instead I will herein strive to set forth the foremost reason that Bible
believing Christians must standup in opposition to the grave national sin of same sex
marriages.
In His creation, God has ordained three
institutions for the benefit of mankind; The Family, the Government (Nations) and the
Church. All of these institutions are created to reflect various attributes of God, but
none as great as marriage, which is a very reflection of the triune Godhead itself.
Additionally, the family (one man, one woman bearing children) is the very first
institution ordained by God and therefore the very foundation, the bedrock, of all God
created human society/civilization, including the other institutions.
Same sex marriage is a full frontal
assault on the very reflected nature of the Triune Godhead divinely intended in the
institution of marriage between one man and one woman at the creation of the world.
(Genesis 1:27, 2:24) The Christian church cannot stand by and
allow this to happen.
If we, called by His Name, stand silent as
our elected representatives refuse to act; we by that silence are affirming this attack on
God’s institutions, and yes, the attack on His very person.
Therefore, we must act. Sometime soon call
your congressman and both senators and let them know that you strongly support a
Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman. Watch the
news and the next time this is before congress, call again. And again and again and again.
Even if our representatives ignore our calls,
by our action we will have done our duty before Christ in standing for Him and His Word as
set forth in Matthew 5:13-16. Thereby, we who are called by Christ’s Name will stand
innocent of this great sin in our land.
Here are a few tips for when you call your
Congressman or Senator.
- Pray first! Ask God for his
wisdom and his words that you may be heard.
- Be very respectful. Remember
that our elected officials are in fact “established by God” (Romans 13:1) and
therefore due our respect.
- Be brief, stating your
“strong support” for the Constitutional Amendment. Be sure to preempt any
“leave it to the states” argument by explaining that judges are overriding the
states will on “constitutional” grounds and therefore the ONLY solution is a
Constitutional Amendment.
- Say thank you, even if it is just for answering the
phone.

accordingly.
