This Weeks Message- (scripture taken from King James Version) "THE GIFT OF HIS SPIRIT" Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that BELIEVETH on me, the works that I do shall he do
also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. An whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I
do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If
ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it. If
ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will
pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with
you forever; Even the Spirit of truth;
who the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know
him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (John
14:12-18) And I say unto you, ASK, and it shall be GIVEN
you; SEEK, and ye shall FIND; KNOCK, and it shall be OPENED
unto you. For everyone that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a
father, will he give him a stone? Or if he
ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or
if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your
children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give The Holy Spirit to them
that ask him? (Luke 11:9-13) At first glance, upon reading these passages of scripture here in
the book of John, the average professing Christian may be stunned to disbelief
at the Lords choice of words wondering how is it possible that they to will do the
SAME works as the Lord, and even GREATER because he went unto the Father. It is obvious and surely evident that doubt
shrouds the hearts of many, simply in the way we pray in the begging and pleading for
assistance when his word has declared: And whatsoever ye shall ask
in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do
it. For the Lord himself
did not beg nor plead when he prayed, but simply SPOKE the WORD and if we are to do the
SAME works as He, we must also operate in the same MANNER as he, in our prayer, in our
speech, we must HAVE the mind of Christ. But,
none of this is possible without RECEIVING
The Gift of His Spirit. For
we can do NOTHING of ourselves, but HIS SPIRIT working through those who BELIEVE can do ALL THINGS! During the time the Lord Physically walked with his
disciples, he did many great and mighty miracles in the healing of the sick, the opening
eyes of the blind, the cleansing of lepers, the casting out of demons, the feeding great
multitudes of people, and the raising of the dead. These
miracles of the Lord did not perish at the foot of the cross, but STILL exist today for it
is the POWER OF THE VERY SAME SPIRIT that worked through the Lord, that shall work through
those who BELIEVE. He declares here in his word that THOSE WHO BELIEVE shall do the same as he, and
even GREATER, as He Physically went to the Father. Now, why would the Lord say those who
BELIEVED would do GREATER works for what could possibly be greater
than the raising of the dead? Well, the
answer would be we as believers would testify of HIM, would be a witness unto
HIM, would share His Gospel and His truths to those who had yet to hear and believe, for
the SALVATION of ones soul is far greater than even the raising of the dead! Yet, even this cannot be done except by RECEIVING the greatest gift the LORD GOD has given
us, The Gift of His SPIRIT, for
with it comes POWER as the Lord himself declared But ye shall RECEIVE POWER, after that the HOLY GHOST is come upon
you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in
Samaria, and unto the Uttermost part of the Earth. While the Lord Physically walked with his disciples,
they could not testify of Him, for the scriptures had not yet been completely fulfilled. The breaking of the bread (His body) had not yet
taken place, nor the drinking of the cup (His Blood) thus salvation was not yet offered to
man. It was only AFTER his death, burial and
RESURRECTION, were they able to Testify by the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT, that Jesus Christ is the Son
of God. That through His Blood, there was
remission of sins. And ALL who confessed with
their mouths and BELIEVED in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead would be
saved. All who repented of their sins and
surrendered themselves completely to Him would receive the gift of Eternal Life. Here is where the greater works are done, for the
Lord himself could not testify of his own death, burial and resurrection, however HIS SPIRIT working through one who BELIEVES can, shall, and has ALREADY
DONE, and will CONTINUE to do so until this GOOD NEWS is preached to ALL the world! And yet again, this can ONLY be done by the POWER
OF HIS SPIRIT, through the mouth of one who BELIEVES! For we are NOTHING without the Gift
of HIS SPIRIT. Everyone who professes to know Jesus Christ as his/her personal
Savior, has been given the Gift of His
Spirit. However, a Gift
CANNOT be utilized, until it is RECEIVED, and upon receiving, then make USE of it! If I were to purchase a brand new vehicle for you,
and you received it with joy, what good usage would it be if you would then
park it in your garage and cover it up! Daily you may look at it, but yet
refuse to put the key in the ignition and start the engine.
What good would it do to have it, if you choose not to use it! Simply Acknowledging its existence would not
force the engine to start, and magically it would drive itself. Yet many acknowledge the Holy Spirit,
but are still waiting for the Lord to do something supernatural to possibly
confirm the presence of His Holy Spirit, and yet the Lord is simply waiting for ALL to
RECEIVE and make USE of the gift hes given.
He says here in his word ASK, and it shall be GIVEN you; SEEK,
and ye shall FIND; KNOCK, and it shall be OPENED unto you. For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that
seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Many
have asked for the gift of His Spirit, and then sit waiting with the expectation that
something magnificent would happen at that moment that would PROVE
theyve RECEIVED the blessed gift of the Holy Spirit. When nothing happens, they believe theyve
not received. They are going by
Feelings and NOT FAITH! Not
everyone would receive a sudden brilliant light that would consume the place they are
praying in, nor would everyone feel a sudden jolt of whats been described as
electricity, nor would everyone shake or tremble, or feel the heat
of His Power, however ALL who would
accept the Gift of the Holy Spirit by FAITH, would most definitely RECEIVE! Once weve received by Faith
the Gift of His Spirit, we then need to allow His Spirit to do the work through us. We cannot be successful in the sharing of his word
on our own, we cannot win a soul to Christ on our own, we cannot heal anyone on our own,
we cannot face trials and tribulations on our own, we cannot deliver ourselves or anyone
else on our own, we cannot break the yoke of bondage on our own, apart from Him WE CAN DO
NOTHING
BUT we can have the FAITH to BELIEVE in the Power of THE GIFT OF HIS SPIRIT working THROUGH
us for the GLORY OF GOD to bring about all these things mentioned and more for GREATER is
HE that is IN US! But we must keep in
mind always, that we are just his vessels, HE does the work. As His word declares: But now, O LORD, thou art our FATHER, we are the
clay, and THOU our POTTER; and we ALL are the work of thy hand (Isa 64:8) I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE! May the peace of the Lord be with you today and always .
