"SPEAK TO THE JUST AND UNJUST"

“And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me saying, Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel:  therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.  When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to SAVE HIS LIFE; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.  Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.  Again, when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.  Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he was warned: also thou hast delivered thy soul.  (Ez 3:16-21)

There have been much criticism these days from the church against fellow believers whom the Lord has called to declare his truth and to warn those who are bound by sin the eternal danger that awaits them shall they continue to be the slaves to sin and reject the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.  It has been said by some that it is acceptable to warn a brother or sister of the dangers of remaining in sin, but one who is not a believer, such should be approached in a different manner, otherwise it becomes more of  judging rather than declaring the truth of the Word of God.    Many believe that it’s not what’s said but the manner of the speech one uses that makes a difference, and this may be true in some cases but not all for one who’s called of God MUST declare his word in the manner HE choose and not their own.  Therefore to some, the speech may sound harsh and judgmental, but before one should criticize the deliverance of the words, one must first understand the call of a “watchmen” for it is commanded of him by God to “Speak to the Just AND unjust” warning BOTH of the dangers of sin.  Let’s look at one who was called to do just that.  And the speech that came forth from him was not that of his own, but was commanded to speak what the Lord declared.

The life of the Prophet Ezekiel was not an easy one, nor was his calling.  The Lord commanded of him to speak his words regardless of the hearer acceptance or rejection and to make known the message given was by the authority of the LORD and not anything he would do of himself.  This meant that he had to speak what was given him by the LORD.  He could not pick the words apart, sweeten and butter them up so that they would be pleasing to the ears of those who heard for then he would not be fulfilling the Lords will but would be seeking to please man.  Therefore, no matter how harsh the words may have sound to the hearer, nonetheless they had to be delivered GOD’S WAY!  Certainly such a calling did not make him popular with man,  for man loves the “watered down” version of the truth as such causes him not to examine the hidden evils of his hardened heart and thus seek forgiveness and repent of his sins.  The “watered down version” makes man feel all is well with him, everything’s just perfect in the eyes of God.  Thus this kind of “doctrine” is openly and easily accepted by man, and the one who declares such is joyfully welcomed.  But not so with one such as Ezekiel.  Like many of the prophets of old and those called into that office today, he was ousted and considered peculiar and strange to many.  The words he spoke were considered harsh and if he were to speak the same words in the church today, they would be considered “judgmental”, and MANY would question whether the words are TRULY from God, because after all God is loving and kind and would hardly speak to his creation in such a manner.  Forgetting that God is also as a consuming fire and what he commands must be adhered to.  He’s not some kindly old gent sitting upon a cloud way up in the sky simply looking down and wishing his children would behave themselves.  As a loving Father, it is only fitting that he disciplines his children when they are disobedient and warns them of the dangers of disobedience however HE sees fit to warn be in through speech or action!  What others may consider “harsh”, I can only see the love in it for I would rather be warned of my sins and repent, then to live my life in a destructive way that would ultimately lead to eternal death and separation of the Father.  To love is to warn, to love not is to remain silent.  Thus, because of the Father’s unfailing love, he sent forth his prophet Ezekiel as a “spiritual watchman” over His people Israel, to speak his words of warning and truth, calling all to repentance.  He was not told by the Lord to declare his word ONE way to those considered “Just”, and ANOTHER way to those considered “Unjust”, but the word of the Lord was commanded to be delivered to BOTH in the SAME manner, having the SAME tone, for the SAME purpose.  If he choose NOT to deliver God’s word of warning to both the just and unjust, the Lord DECLARED that the “sinners” blood would be required at his (Ezekiel’s) hand.  Now, this is a heavy price for one to pay for disobedience, for refusing to warn all of the dangers of remaining in sin.  Therefore, it was imperative that Ezekiel heeded to the command of the Lord, just as it is for those whom the Lord has called this day.  The Lord has placed spiritual watchman over his church, and many have been sent out into the world to call sinners unto repentance.  Their task is NOT an easy one, but it is of ABSOLUTE necessity.   If He has clearly given them instructions to speak thus, and they refuse to warn the people, that sinner shall die in his sins and the man/woman who refused to warn him, the blood of such shall be required of the disobedient servant of the Lord.  It would be a very heavy price to pay for the “Ezekiel’s” of today.  Therefore, rather than condemn his speech, understand that his speech is not his own but that he’s only following the will of Yahweh!

We must also CONSTANTLY be reminded (as some tend to forget) that these are difficult times and most certainly we are drawing closer to the coming of Yeshua.  Therefore, we have not much time for passive speech as souls are at risk of spending ETERNITY in hell.   Darkness envelopes the land and wickedness is rampant, thus many need a spiritual shaking, a spiritual awakening and often times this happens through a word from the Lord many would consider harsh.  But, consider this, the Lord said to Ezekiel When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to SAVE HIS LIFE; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.  If a word goes forth today to both the believer and unbeliever to REPENT and you consider that harsh, what do you consider the words of the Lord to Ezekiel as being?  For this scripture is saying the wicked or (sinner) shall DIE if he continues in sin, and if Ezekiel had refused to warn the sinner to help SAVE his life, his blood will the Lord require at his hand.  In other words, Ezekiel would be held responsible and accountable for this sinners eternal death had he refused to declare warning!  Therefore, before you judge the messenger, and before you question his speech as being “Godly” or not, consider the words Yahweh had spoken to the prophet Ezekiel and thus be silent and allow the “Ezekiel’s” of today to “Speak to the Just and Unjust” the warnings as given to THEM by The LORD GOD in the manner HE HAS CHOSEN!  Remember also that the warnings are given because of His GREAT LOVE for his creation, not out of judgment but LOVE, that NONE should perish but that ALL would come to the knowledge of the TRUTH!  The days are short, and what MUST be done, MUST be done quickly and obediently!  I PRAISE THE LORD for loving me ENOUGH to warn me of sin, and giving me opportunity to REPENT, thus I THANK HIM for the “Ezekiel’s” of today…..Do you?

“Cry ALOUD, SPARE NOT, lift up thy voice like a TRUMPET, and shew my people their transgressions, and the house of Jacob their sins”…Saith The Lord  (Is 58:1)

I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE!

The Lord be with you this day and always!  Shalom Uvracha (Peace and Blessings)……..
