"LET GO OF UNFORGIVENESS"

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:  But I say unto you, That whosoever is ANGRY with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of hell fire.  Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.  Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.  Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.  (Matt 5:21-26)

“for if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. BUT, if ye forgive NOT men their trespasses, NEITHER will your Father forgive your trespasses.”  (Matt 6:14-15)

Unforgiveness and deep rooted bitterness have imbedded itself in the hearts of many today especially those who profess to be of the faith!  For there are so many “professing” Christians who claim to love the Lord Jesus AND the word of God, that have allowed the sin of unforgiveness to manipulate their lives and hinder their spiritual walk and growth in the Lord.  It amazes me how some “christians” are quickly able to forgive an unbeliever for wrongdoing, but seem to struggle when it comes to forgiving their own spiritual brother or sister.  Peter asked of the Lord in the book of Matthew chapter 18, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?  Up to seven times?” and the Lord replied “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”  Yet, even knowing this, there are some who still refuse to forgive even once.  They would rather go through life in bitterness towards a brother or sister, and having the false belief that they possess a genuine relationship with the Lord.  However,  it is not possible to develop a relationship with the Lord, while remaining bitter and angry towards your brother in Christ, for bitterness hinders not only spiritual growth but answered prayer. As long as you remain unforgiving, according to scripture, the sins you’ve committed are not forgiven by our Heavenly Father as well.   Therefore, it would behoove those who have chosen to cling to anger and unforgiveness to let go, for why risk your sins remaining before the Father simply because of your unwillingness to forgive your brother. Now is the time to “let Go of Unforgiveness” and begin fulfilling the commandment of the Lord “Love one another, as I have loved you.”

Not only does unforgiveness cause spiritual danger to the one clinging to it, but it is also a very poor representation to the world of a “christian”, for it displays the very opposite of what the Lord taught which was love.  When unbelievers are witness to believers despising each other, what does this say to the world about Christians in general.  It says that we are no different from they despite the fact we profess that we are different.  It says that we are hypocrites in that we preach love and oneness, yet cannot even walk in love amongst ourselves.  It causes an unbeliever to perhaps think twice about becoming a “believer” as they may see no difference between the two except in speech as the believer proclaims Godliness and Holiness and yet actions are no different from the unbeliever.

Therefore we must “let Go of Unforgiveness” and begin demonstrating and honoring our Lord through our love for one another.  Not simply speak the words of forgiveness but actually forgive for there are those who say they forgive, and yet continue to allow the wrongdoing against them to remain in their hearts and memory, allowing anger and bitterness to continue to fester.  One cannot truly from the heart forgive another while continuing to remind the brother or sister and others of the event that caused them pain.  If you’re continually confessing the pain, and consistently bringing up the event, then you’ve not truly forgiven your brother at all, and your sins have not been forgiven by The Father.  How would we as believers feel if our Lord declared he forgives us of our sins, and yet use every opportunity to remind us of the pain we’ve caused Him through our disobedience.  To say He forgives, but yet remind us continually of the past, wouldn’t we then question the authenticity of the words “I forgive you?”  Well, it is no different from a believer who says they forgive another and yet continually remind him/her of the pain they believe was inflicted upon them.  When we hold on to anger, we cause damage only to ourselves and cause the Lord great pain and sorrow.  So, if we truly love Him as we profess to, let us TRULY from the HEART forgive those who’ve caused us pain, and begin to demonstrate the Love of our Lord……let us FORGIVE and walk in LOVE.

I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE!

The Lord be with you this day and always!  Shalom Uvracha (Peace and Blessings)……..
