"ARE YOU STILL SLEEPING"

“Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.  And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.  Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.  And he went a little father, and fell on his face, and prayed saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.  And he cometh unto the disciples and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?  Watch and Pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.  He went away again the second time and prayed saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me except I drink it, thy will be done.  And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.   And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.  Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand and the son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.  Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.  (Matt 26:36-46)

Three times the Lord went to pray in these passage of scripture, and three times he returned again to his disciples only to find them sleeping.  At the most critical time when they should have been awake, alert and in prayer, they instead were sleeping.  The last thing he said to Peter, James and John before he went off to pray was: “tarry ye here, and WATCH with me however, they did not watch but slept.  Although his instructions were directed to all the disciples, he specifically addressed Peter when he returned the first time and found them asleep as the scriptures read: And he cometh unto the disciples and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?   Watch and Pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.  His focus was possibly on Peter due to the fact that hours prior he’d just prophesied to Peter that before the cock crows twice, he would have denied even knowing him three times.  Thus, it would have been wise of Peter had he’d remained awake and in prayer, rather than asleep and without armor to fight against the temptations of the flesh.

Just as the Lord asked of Peter, so he asks of the Church (His Bride) today “Are You Still Sleeping?” For even in this most crucial hour when the church should be awake, alert and in constant prayer, he has found her hidden behind the pews asleep.  She has put her trust in the words of man and not in God and like an adulterous wife, she has played the harlot and sought after other lovers who would please her ears with the things she longs to hear.  While her groom speaks, she is asleep but when he lover opens his mouth, she is instantly awaken and alert.  For she is captivated by his speech which is filled with lies and hypocrisy, but because she is spiritually asleep, she’s unable to see the snare that has been set before her.  She is persuaded by his false promises of peace, of prestige, of great wealth for oh how she loves to be adorned with the riches of this world.  They seem to mean more to her than the spiritual wealth her groom has to offer.  Yet, she declares that she loves her groom for he is her beloved she has publicly proclaim such.  But, while he speaks…..she sleeps, where then is her love!   What?  Could you not watch with me one hour, says the Lord?  Watch and pray, that ye not enter into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.”  As Peter declared so does she to her Lord, her groom: “Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.  Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee.”  And he thus gave her a voice to speak unto man of her unwavering and undeniable love for him and yet she remained silent, and in her silence, there lies her denial.  Soon, there will come a time when she shall no longer have the privledge to openly speak WITHOUT persecution, even death and then, shall she yet still remain silent and asleep?  Her beloved has warned her of the things to come and has commanded that she remain watchful and in prayer, for he knows the weakness of her flesh.  How easily she can be persuaded into believing a lie if she remains asleep.  He knows that while she sleeps her ears quickly rejects the truth and is open to deception.  Even now, she is intoxicated by the lies delivered to her by one who possess the spirit of anti-Christ seeing it all as truth!   She welcomes every word of his speech, devours it like a hungry lion, leaving behind a false sense of fullness and security and all the while she is starving herself and open to BE devoured by the one who despises her the most and yet has led her to believe he loves her.   If she would awaken, she would see his deception!  The Lord bids his bride to WAKE UP!   Why, “Are You Still Sleeping?” says The Lord!  Can you not hear my voice?  Do you not remember my words?  Why do you choose to sleep, when this is the hour you MUST remain awake! There is no time for slumber, no time for rest, no time to let your spiritual guard down, no time to remove yourself from under my covering by following after man.  If you do so, it will prove to be (spiritually) fatal!  Remain under my wing, AWAKE for I cannot cover your nakedness and shame while you remain asleep for when you are asleep, you are away from me!  Awake, for the end is drawing near!  I have given you the promise of my return, but you have not believed my word.   If you had, you would have begun preparation of my arrival.  Instead, you’ve slept and slumbered listening to the voice of man who have told you that I’d tarry and you’ve said in your heart there is time.  Time to adorn yourself with the lust and things of this world, for you have loved IT more than you loved me.  Your lack of preparation has said that you have despised my coming for you desire to remain asleep that you may continue to play the harlot to your idols and satisfy the lust of your flesh!   AWAKEN NOW!  For I shall come to you in the hour which you least expect!  If you are prepared BLESSED are you, if you are not, you shall have your place among the wicked and with those who have despised my name for you shall be counted UNWORTHY to enter in to my rest.  Are you STILL sleeping?  ARISE, WAKE UP, Sleep no more, for I am NEAR….I’m at the very DOOR!

“But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.  Take ye heed, WATCH AND PRAY: for ye know not when the time is.   For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to WATCH.  Watch ye therefore: for ye know not hen the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning.  LEST COMING SUDDENLY HE FIND YOU SLEEPING.” (Mark 13:32-36)

I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE!

The Lord be with you this day and always!  Shalom Uvracha (Peace and Blessings)……..
