Timely Insights into God's Word from Khandielese Reyes

I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. This Weeks Message- (scripture taken from King James Version)

"A HEART OF RESENTMENT"

“And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.  And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of music.  And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.  And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can we have more but the kingdom?  And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.  And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in he midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.  And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it.  And David avoided out of his presence twice.  And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul.  Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.  And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.  Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.  But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.”  (1st Sam 18:5-16)

Resentment…such a negative word that brings upon such negative consequences when one allows it to rule and govern his heart.

Saul had “A Heart of Resentment” against David.  He resented him for his “popularity”, for his gifts and for the Power of God that rested upon him.  He became enraged with resentment so much so that he sought David’s life.   After David had defeated the Philistine “Goliath”, and upon returning with the head of Goliath, the people rejoiced and the women of Israel came out singing and dancing to meet “Saul”, but sang praises to “David.”  Saul was consumed with resentment and fearful as he believed because of David’s “popularity”, the next step would be David being crowned as “King” of Israel, which he inevitably was as he was called by God for that very purpose.  It was obvious that Saul LOVED his title, his prestige, and the praise of man MORE than He loved the things of God, MORE than he loved to see the GLORY of God.  In his heart was the spirit of pride and arrogance, but David’s heart was humble.

Saul started off on the right track in obeying the voice of the Lord, and in surrendering to his will and commandments but his heart soon turned away, and he began to make decisions and judgments according to his own will, neglecting the voice of the Lord.  Therefore, because of his disobedience the Lord was grieved that he ever made Saul “king of Israel.”   He declared to Samuel that Saul’s reign would not continue and Samuel then  relayed the Lord’s words to Saul saying: “But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou has not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.” (1st Sam 13:14)  Now Saul’s heart was filled with resentment over the one who would victoriously take his place and Samuel was grieved that Saul had lost his position.  Rather than rejoice and give glory to God over the defeat of the “philistine”, Saul instead focused ONLY on the positive attention David had received, and allowed jealousy, envy and resentment to overcome the once goodness of his heart.

Today, the spirit of resentment lies heavy upon many members within the body of Christ.  So much so until it has disrupted the spiritual blessings, favor and grace of Almighty God.  Many, like Saul started out on the right track with hearts hungry and thirsty to do the will of God, but soon lost focus and began doing those things that were not commanded of God.  Hearts have become bitter and envious towards one another in a constant battle to have the greatest and most elaborate building, the largest following, and the greater most well known NAME.  When will we UNDERSTAND that this is NOT about competition (who speaks the greatest, who has the greatest sermon and/or revelation, who has the largest membership of their congregation, etc.) but it is about ministering the TRUTH of God’s word that many may hear and receive the gift of eternal life for HIS Glory.  It’s about edifying, encouraging, lifting up, and yes when needed, admonishing the Body of Christ that HE may be Glorified.  It is about allowing the HOLY SPIRIT to work through each and every one of us for the GLORY of the FATHER!  It is about CHRIST, the Son of the Living God, the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world…CHRIST and NOT man’s Glory.  We are NOTHING without Him.  Thus, when we see the power of God working through one of his chosen vessels to reach the Nations, where countless of souls now have their names written in the Lambs book of life because of that vessel’s obedience to God and willingness to surrender his/herself  to be used for HIS Glory, WHY ARE WE NOT REJOICING rather than becoming resentful? Why are we not blessing the name of the Lord, giving PRAISE and THANKSGIVING for the POWER of the Holy Spirit that does GREAT work through any vessel that is willing to SURRENDER?  What difference does it make whom the Lord CHOOSE to deliver HIS word, so long as the MESSAGE is sent forth, so long as the TRUTH is revealed, so long as the world KNOWS there is a way of escape and that is THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord.

Why have we allowed resentment to enter into THE BODY OF CHRIST?  It is clearly evident for it shows up in our very own speech when we speak evil of one another because of envy, when we even try and hold back a brother or sister from completely fulfilling the will of God through our negative and discouraging words, is not the spirit of resentment the culprit?  We witness the favor of God upon a brother or sisters life, and visibly see the POWER of the Holy Spirit working through them for the Glory of God and rather than REJOICE, we instead resent the individual because it was not us who were CALLED to do that particular work.  Examine your hands, do they NOT do the work of the hands or do they do the work of your feet.  Your eyes, do they not function in the form of SEEING, or do they attempt to do the work of your ears?   If we can understand the functioning of our physical bodies, in the manner that GOD FORMED THEM, how the eyes are designed to SEE and the ears are designed to HEAR, and so on, How is it that we cannot understand NOR adhere to the functioning of each member of the BODY OF CHRIST as the LORD GOD FORMED IT?   Why is it so difficult to understand that we are MEMBERS NOT individualists, but MEMBERS of the SAME BODY each with a purpose and work to do for the effectiveness of the ENTIRE body and ALL for the GLORY OF GOD!  Why are we NOT working together, rather than attempting FOOLISHLY to function apart!  Is it that we are MORE desirous to be praised and seen of men, rather than GLORIFYING The Lord?

We MUST REPENT of this EVIL!   Repent from having “A Heart of Resentment”!  We have become carnal, surrendering to that which please our FLESH rather than that which PLEASE THE LORD!  We speak with our mouths, and profess with our tongues the Lord Jesus, but our ACTIONS speak that of THE WORLD!  We are no different from they if our hearts harbor such evil!  Repent of this, for it has NO PLACE within the Body of Christ.  Or shall we CONTINUE to TEMPT the Lord our God to wrath?  For judgment SHALL begin at the House of the Lord and it is nearer than many believe.  When He comes, shall he find that our hearts has been swept clean of all the filth and debris of SIN, shall He find that HIS LIGHT is shining brightly through, or shall he find a house that is darkened, where there is NO light of Love, and where it remains CLUTTER and CONSUMED by the wickedness of Sin!  REPENT, for the coming of the Lord draws nigh!

If we ALL TRULY SEEK to GLORIFY THE LORD, then there shall be NO room in our hearts for resentment of our brother!

I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE!

May the peace of the Lord be with you today and always…….
